In the early nineties, a girl went to see dance practice at the club’s annual event with her sisters, and after her sisters left, she started playing the same dance alone. The club members were shocked to see this and told Shamna, the mother of a four-year-old girl. She was forced to take to the stage but was reluctant by the traditional Muslim family of Kannur who made a living from fishing.
Then Akure agreed to the club’s program, so without any special study, the boy entered the stage with the song “Wa Kuku Wa”.The journey started like that. The family could not pretend that they did not see the applause and compliments they received that day. They sent their daughter to study dance.Dancer Shamna Kasim says today with a laugh that she will be the first Muslim girl to learn classical dance from her hometown.
It must be true that Shamna, who has been on stage since the age of four, has been a well-known dancer in South India for 15 years. How many venues, experiences, movie fame, money, life, everything that this girl has given is dance.Shamna Kazim was born in 1989 at Vettila Church in Kannur district.
